Macy Gray to Star in Macy's Passport Presents Glamorama 2010
Grammy award-winning singer will help kick off 28th annual fashion extravaganza to support the fight against HIV/AIDS WHAT: | Popular musical artist Macy Gray, who first soared to fame with her debut album "On How Life Is" and her massive hit single "I Try," will headline Macy's Passport Presents Glamorama at The Orpheum Theater on Friday, September 24 at 8 p.m. Also, singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson will perform during this year's show. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements to make this year's show truly spectacular! Topping the list of designers this year: Tracy Reese, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Just Cavalli, Material Girl, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and more to come! This year the annual Macy's Passport fashion benefit will undergo a remarkable transformation, becoming Macy's Passport Presents Glamorama, and moving from its Fort Mason location to the Orpheum Theater in Downtown San Francisco. Passport began as an awareness-raising fashion show in Macy's employee cafeteria in 1982 and has since grown into one of the largest and longest-running HIV/AIDS events of its kind. The fashion benefit, with the help of the Macy's Foundation, has donated more than $28 million for HIV/AIDS services, prevention and research. Just as the face of AIDS is evolving, this event is also being reinvented and re-imagined, presenting the runway show as theatre. The magic on the runway will be transformed and transported into the beautiful, landmark Orpheum Theatre with an exciting after party at the Asian Art Museum. |
